Bien tenir son grip au Golf

Improving Your Body Position in Golf

Holding your grip correctly in golf is fundamental to ensuring a good ball strike. By following the tips below, you'll lay the foundation for an effective and accurate swing. Remember, golf is a sport of finesse and technique, where every detail counts. Happy practicing!

Choose the Right Type of Grip

There are three main types of grips: the overlapping grip, the interlocking grip, and the baseball grip. The choice depends on your comfort and wrist strength.

Position Your Hands Correctly

For a right-handed golfer, place your left hand (for a left-handed golfer, your right hand) at the top of the shaft, so that the grip rests on the palm, running from the index finger to the base of the little finger. Your fingers should wrap around the shaft. The right hand (for a left-handed golfer, the left hand) then goes underneath the top hand, either overlapping or interlocking the fingers, depending on the type of grip chosen.

Maintain Consistent Pressure

Your grip should be firm but not too tight. Imagine holding a bird in your hands: tight enough that it won't fly away, but not to the point of harming it. Too much pressure can hinder the fluidity and accuracy of your swing.

Align Your Hands

Ensure that the thumbs and index fingers of each hand form a "V" pointing towards your right shoulder (for a right-handed golfer) or left shoulder (for a left-handed golfer). This helps to align the club correctly and promotes better swing control.

Practice Regularly

As with everything in golf, practice leads to perfection. Take the time to work on your grip before focusing on the rest of your swing. A good grip will significantly improve the quality of your shots.
